Model behaviour

I find supermodels irritating at the best of times, unless they’re talking about their cellulite or some enjoyably negative aspect which reveals that they do, in fact, have less-than-perfect lives.

Gisele Bundchen, the highest-paid model in the world, is more in-need-of-a-slap than most of the smug sticks, having made such comments in the past as that giving birth “didn’t hurt in the slightest” and that “there should be a worldwide law… that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months” Now I’m all for lactacion materna, but each to their own, chica. You’re a clothes horse, not a public health official.

Now she’s back in the news again, this time related to her work rather than airing her views. These three new ads have raised some eyebrows, and not just by the slavering males transfixed by her prancing around in her smalls.

The whole concept of these ads – that you should break bad news (“I crashed the car”, “My mother is moving in”, “I maxed the credit card”) in your sexy underwear, rather than a boring old dress – is so flawed and offensive, I suppose the Portuguese company who commissioned it, Hope, was going by the theory that all publicity is good publicity.

Personally, having seen this, I wouldn’t buy a pair of Hope knickers if they were the last ones left on earth.

And the Ministry for Women in Brazil agrees, because it’s demanded that the ad be pulled. I’ve never been one for censorship, but as a mother, I can’t help but wonder what kind of message this is giving to young girls – the most effective way to get what you want is to flash your boobs? Heaven help us all.

Don’t tell anyone, but I took an unauthorised blog break yesterday – 15 October, a good logical point I reckoned. Now I’m past the half way marker for the month of A Post A Day, it’ll all be downhill from here on in. OK, so I’ve broken my promise to do a daily post. But I think a hiatus can be a good thing, right?

Hey, just post twice tomorrow and back-date one of them. Nobody will notice…

Re: supermodels. WTF is up with Gisele? Has she never had a waist-line (she’s totally straight up and down) or is it the steroids?

I’m just guessing about the steroids.

        To backdate: dashboard>edit post>publish>edit date

On the right hand side under Publish you see Status, Visiblity and Published on… just edit the last one to whatever date and time you like. This is also how you can schedule a post to publish automatically in the future.
